HANA, MAUI, HAWAII – As part of its
new resort offerings, Travaasa Hana (formerly Hotel Hana-Maui) on Maui’s
eastern shore recently debuted the island’s only hotel archery
experience.
Certified archery instructors who are longtime hotel employees and
Hana residents lead the two-hour activity, which takes place twice a
week near the hotel’s turn-of-the-century Plantation Guest House in Hana
and is available exclusively to resort guests.
“We’re pleased to be the only hotel on Maui to offer archery,” said Karyn Johnson, program manager at Travaasa Hana.
“Our expansive lawn area, quietly swaying palm trees, and Hana’s
breathtaking natural beauty create the perfect backdrop for this unique
and enriching experience.”
By participating in this activity, resort guests can learn and
practice the foundation of archery while boosting mental attention and
physical performance in a fun way.
The resort’s archery instructors were trained in the Junior Olympic Archery Development program and certified by USA Archery.
They teach techniques to develop
focus, patience, flexibility, concentration, and attention skills to
help understand why great archers develop these simple concepts to
heighten all aspects of their lives.
Archery complements Travaasa Hana’s existing adventure programming,
which includes throw net fishing, coastal horseback rides, bicycle
tours, and more. Travaasa Hana also incorporates culinary, culture,
fitness, and spa/wellness activities into its extensive programming
lineup. All activities reflect the local traditions and small town
flavor of Hana.
The archery experience is offered at no additional charge to all
guests staying at Travaasa Hana. Sign-ups are first come, first serve,
and are limited to six guests per class.
Located at the end of the famous Road to Hana, the original property
opened in 1947 and became a favorite retreat for generations of
travelers seeking barefoot elegance, unspoiled natural beauty and a
Hawaiian sense of place. Travaasa Destinations’ philosophy is to provide
an escape for those looking to experience something new, enrich their
lives and immerse themselves in local traditions, which pays tribute to
the hotel’s original intention.
The AAA Four Diamond Hotel was recently rated the No. 1 Hawaii Hotel
and No. 58 in the world in the 2011 Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice
Awards Poll. The Spa at Travaasa Hana was named the No. 1 Resort Spa in
Hawaii by Condé Nast Traveler in 2011.
